The Problem With Vague Window And Door Plans
You’d be surprised at how vague the early planning for special-order residential projects tends to be.
It’s even more surprising to learn that this is frequently a purposeful tactic.
Why? For starters, a vague plan can help simplify the permitting process. It can also lower the bar for making a winning project bid.
But vagueness is the death of true excellence. That’s why we banish it at Rockman Windows & Doors.
We have a company saying, “Let’s get your project moving on the right track in the right direction.” And you can’t do that unless you start talking in specifics as early as possible.
A Great Tri-State Project Starts Earlier Than You Think
The groundwork for a successful, high-end window or door project is laid earlier than you might think.
How early? Often, it’s when you have an architect onboard but have yet to hire a builder.
Your architect is typically our first point of contact. With your consent, they’ll help us schedule the initial meeting. They’ll also loop in your builder if you’ve already chosen one.
Why do we take this approach? It allows us to discuss your project from a comprehensive perspective. This overview is essential for everything that’s to come.
Answering Key Window And Door Questions
Our initial design meetings usually take place via Zoom. We do our best to make them as useful and concise as possible.
At the core of each meeting is a series of questions that fall into nine categories. Together, these questions cover critical topics such as:
- Whether or not you’ve already researched your window or door options
- The nature of your project (new construction, renovation, etc.)
- Your reasons as the homeowner for wanting the work done
- The amount of time allotted for completion of the project
- How you typically use the home on an everyday basis
- What you’re looking for in a special order supplier
Depending on the answers we get, we might make some initial suggestions on potential product options. We may also do some initial pricing on these suggestions.
When we have the information we need, we’ll bring the meeting to a conclusion. Then it’s on to the next step in the process.
Our Proposal For Your Door Or Window Project
What is that step? Creating our proposal for your project. This proposal will include our detailed recommendations, as well as an overall price estimate.
That’s all you’d get from most suppliers. But at Rockman, we realize it’s often not enough.
To know for sure how you feel about our recommended options, you may need to see them in person. You can do exactly that in one of our two conveniently located showrooms.
Your Visit To One Of Our Local Product Showrooms
Before signing on the dotted line, roughly half of our prospective clients make a showroom visit.
If that’s true for you, you can expect much more than a cursory walkthrough of our offerings.
We want you to take your time and make all the necessary observations and comparisons. A Rockman team member will accompany you and answer any questions you may have.
The typical visit lasts roughly an hour to 90 minutes. When it’s done, you’ll know for sure if we’re the right supplier for you.
